Green Lasso works within a web of green lawyers, banks, web hosts and designers to keep our money in line with our ethics.  In addition, we don’t have an office---which means no commuting, heating, cooling or buying office furniture. We also minimize flying by conducting as much business as possible online.  Here are some of the environmentally and socially responsible businesses that have earned our respect and business:

DreamHost
http://www.dreamhost.com
Employee-owned, carbon neutral web hosting. How cool is that?

Katovich Law Group
http://katovichlaw.com/
Katovich Law Group’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond operating responsibly to helping their clients do the same. Attorneys and support staff believe in sustainability as a way of life and demonstrate that by actively participating in and supporting their local community.

New Resource Bank
www.newresourcebank.com/
Profiled in Ode Magazine (http://bit.ly/KDKQr) The New Resource Bank came together in 2005 to build a bank that is "by the people and for the people". According to the magazine, the bank is “the first explicitly green bank in the U.S.” and it was the only financial institution to win an EPA award for 2008.

What We’re Funding Now

Guardian: Secure, Private, Anonymous Phone built on Google Android

While mobile phones have been heralded as a powerful new tool for activists, human rights advocates and public health initiatives around the globe, they are a step backwards when it comes to personal liberty, anonymity and safety. Google Android's open-source mobile telephony platform provides a foundation on which a new type of phone that cloaks its user and their data to protect human rights workers around the world.

The project, currently being developed by Green Lasso’s Nathanial Freitas, just took top honors at the  UC Berkeley Human Rights Center’s Mobile Challenge.
