Stories shape us as much as we shape them. It is from storied landscapes that we form understandings of where we belong and it is our collective narratives that shape our cultures. As Renny Gleason told a recent Technology Entertainment Design (TED) audience:
“We are creating the technology that is going to create the new shared experience that will create the new world. And so my request is, please, let’s make technologies that make people more human and not less.”
Technology is moving us very quickly towards horizons where we can produce stories in open-sourced, engaged and co-creative ways. Will those stories connect us solely to consumer culture? Or can we ride these new technologies into the wide open spaces of human imagination and collaboration and emerge with forms of entertainment that connect us to each other, to our landscapes and to ourselves? We believe we can.
